Indonesia is located in South East Asia.  It consists of approximately 17,000 islands, streched out along the equator  and, and make up the giant Archipelago. With population of 320 million people.  Manado is located at the Northern tip of the province of North Sulawesi in Eastern Indonesia.  The national language of Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia.  However, there are a total of approximately 365 languages spoken throughout the country.  Manadonese is primarily language spoken in this region.

Manado is located on Northern part of Sulawesi island which is the capital city of North Sulawesi, is the cultural home of the Minahasan people.  This mainly Christian group were thoroughly colonized by the Dutch, whose influence is enduring, as the church suggests.  Before the Dutch, the Spanish and the Portuguese, who first arrived in North Sulawesi during the sixteenth century, left many traces of their culture and language, which still prevade the region.


Manado is rich in agriculture with the land abundant with spices, such as vanilla beans, cloves, and nutmeg and fruits, such as pineapple, banana, papaya and coconut.  It is a coastal region also abundant with fresh fish and wildlife.
